"Are You Pair Savvy?"

Real California Cheese has just launched Pair Savvy, a brand new mobile app that takes the guesswork out of cheese pairing.

Pair Savvy is a user-friendly application that works on both iPhone and Android devices and allows users to search by cheese, wine or beer varieties based on personal preference. California cheesemakers make more than 250 varieties and styles of Real California Cheese, everything from bandage wrapped Cheddar to award-winning Brie.

Here’s how it works:

Download Pair Savvy to your mobile device and you can select by cheese, wine or beer. If you don't have a compatible mobile device, users can still use the Pair Savvy site to find savvy pairings.

Pair Savvy will come up with a pairing that has a list of suggested cheeses, California cheesemakers and brand names they can purchase at retail. So cool!

Some pairings even suggest fruit accompaniments, which is great when putting together a cheese plate or display. Users can also save pairings and rate the pairings they have tried. There’s even a “Surprise Pairing” option for the more daring at heart.

This fun app is available for free download, just in time for holiday events. A beautiful, perfectly paired selection of cheeses and beverages will make you the most celebrated host or hostess and the favorite guest at every party you attend.

Real California Cheese Pair Savvy is available today to most smart phone users through their mobile browser: pairsavvy.realcaliforniamilk.com

For the iPhone: Visit the App Store, search for “Pair Savvy” then download for free (available soon).

For Android users: Visit the Android Marketplace, search for “Pair Savvy” then download for free.

Better yet, Pair Savvy is linked to RealCaliforniaMilk.com so the app will update automatically with no need to download future updated versions.

"Community" Christmas Episode Review

I was really impressed with this show, Community. This show was put together well, and I found it to be very interesting, even though the animation could attract younger children. The characters were amusing and funny. And yes, it reminded me of the Christmas classics that I used to watch while growing up.

ABC's "Community," a smart comedy series about a band of misfits who attend Greendale Community College.

At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale, "The Soup"), a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been revoked. With some help from his fellow classmates, Winger forms a study group that eventually learns more about themselves than their course work.

Also among the series stars who comprise the group are: comedy legend Chevy Chase ("Chuck") as Pierce, a man whose life experience has brought him infinite wisdom; Gillian Jacobs ("The Book of Daniel") as Britta, the 20-something dropout with something to prove; Yvette Nicole Brown ("Rules of Engagement") as Shirley, a sassy middle-aged divorcée; Danny Pudi ("Greek") as Abed, a pop culture junkie; Alison Brie ("Mad Men") as Annie, a high-strung perfectionist; Donald Glover ("30 Rock") as Troy, a former high school football star trying to find his way, and Ken Jeong ("The Hangover") as Señor Chang.

Five Most Helpful Tips For Holiday Tech Shopping

The Holiday season is in full swing now. Black Friday and Cyber Monday has come and gone. Holiday gift shopping can stretch anyone budget thin, especially if you have not set money a side, for this specific purpose. Nevertheless, I'm not an expert in technology, however, I do know alot about it. And, I'd like to share these most helpful tips for holiday tech shopping with you all.

Five Most Helpful Tips For Holiday Tech Shopping:

1. Price-Match: Gather your sale ads and compare the information about the product in each sale ad. (i.e. size, features, colors, etc..). Search for the retailers "Price-Matching" policy, usually on the last page of their ad. To keep your business, some retailers would honor their competitor's ads.

2. Do Your Homework: Know exactly what you want and need in a gadget or a product (i.e. brand, model, etc.) and get an ideal price of the product. Some of the retailers are known to inflate prices. You need to know the difference between a "bargain price" & an inflated or listed price. Therefore, doing your homework can save you money as well as time.

3. Read Online Customers' Reviews: Before purchasing that big ticket item, read the reviews from previously customers (who already purchased the product). The online customers' reviews play a key role in influencing the (potential) customer's buying decision. Personally, reading the online customers' reviews has made a big impact on mine and my husband's buying decision on a specific product. I look for the customer's review tab, when I'm reviewing a product.

4. Use Coupons: Save money by using coupons that the retailers are offering shoppers. You can find coupons, coupon codes and holiday gift certificate codes on Facebook, Twitter, in your email inbox, in your Sunday's newspaper and in the stores.

5. Buy An Extended Warranty: If you're purchasing a big ticket item, purchase an extended warranty. Read the terms on the warranty and consider the length and coverage of any extended warranties. Please keep your receipts just in case you might have to return the product.

We might as well face the fact that technology has found its way to the top of our wish lists as well as our children wish lists. From Netbooks to iPhones & iPads and everything in between, technology has become a staple in our world. Following the above tips can help you make the most out of your tech purchases.

10 Tips For Stylish Layering Techniques For All Occasions

Michigan weather changes constantly. We could wake up to sunshine and it could be raining by noon. Therefore, wearing layers of clothing could be essential, at times, in the state of Michigan. I would like to share the creative, stylish ways you can add layers to your wardrobe.

10 Tips For Stylish Layering Techniques For All Occasions:

1. Invest in basic neutral colors- Neutral colors includes: black, brown, white, and gray. You can wear one of the neutral color shirt as the underlayer shirt to build upon the layer.

2. Body Type- You must see what works for your individual body types. Try on different looks/styles to see what suits you best.

3. Leggings- Leggings are so hot now! I have seen people wearing leggings with long shirts(knee-hi length), oversize sweaters. You can even buy legging jeans now!

4. Buy tank tops & stretchy shirts- Buy smooth and/or ribbed shirts to go with almost any outfit.

5. Mix & Match the Items In Your Wardrobe- Layering allow you to mix & match the clothing that's in your closet. Update your last season clothing by mixing & matching.

6. Buy Cardigans- Invest in cardigans of different lengths and textures. Cardigans could be worn all year round.

7. Sweaters & Turtlenecks- I know a lot of us do not wear turtlenecks, including myself. My teen told me that turtlenecks are "so obsolete." Add a sweater dress over a pair of skinny jeans with a sleeveless cardigan for an easy fit.

8. Invest in a high quality leather or trench coat- You can wear a trench coat all year round and leather 3/4 of the year. Each coat can easily go over jeans, dress pants, skirts, dresses, etc.. for a quick style.

9. Add a Vest- Put on a vest over your shirt or turtleneck and then add a blazer (over the vest) with a pair of jeans or dress pants/skirt.

10. Visit the Fashion Website- Go to the various websites to gather ideas about how to make your layering look stylish and cute.

As you can see, there are so many ways in creating stylish layering techniques without going "broke." Do you have any tips for stylish layering techniques for all Occasions?

My Favorite Road Trip: Family Reunion- 60th Year!

My family traveled to our 60th Family Reunion in Grenada, Mississippi this past August. We traveled from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Grenada, Mississippi - a 12 hour drive! We stopped every 2-3 hours to stretched, use restrooms, eat, and/or get gas. We always get excited when we crossed the bridge that connects Illinois and Missouri states! What a great experience.

On the way to our destination, my teens listened to their music or watch a movie on their portable dvd player. My husband and I would converse back and forth about the weather, the current location we're traveling through, or life in general. We also decided to count the states did we traveled through. We counted 7 states altogether! Amazing!!

After my family arrived to Grenada, MS. We unpacked, visited other family members, who was already there and then we rested up for a while. Once we rested, my sisters and I went shopping while my husband and teens, along with other family members, went to the pool to swim.

Here's the list of activities that we participated in at the family reunion:

Friday night- We had a baseball game and picnic at the park. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Saturday- We had a fish fry and more shopping

Sunday- Our family reunion grand finale!!!During the Sunday dinner at the park, to our amazement, one of my cousin's flew his helicopter over the park where we was at and landed in the ball field next to us. Most of us walked over to where my cousin landed and took pictures. We never had this happen before in the 60 years of the family reunion.

After the fun-filled day ended, we headed back to the hotel and rested up for the trip back home.

Do you have a favorite road trip that you want to share? or a memorable road trip? Please feel free to comment below and share your thoughts with us.

5 Tips For Editing and Creating Beautiful Digital Photo Projects

I became interested in photography when I was a teen. I always love to take "the unexpected" or "capturing the moment" photos of family members and of friends. I would like to share 5 tips for editing & creating beautiful digital photo projects.

Here are 5 Tips For Editing and Creating Beautiful Digital Photo Projects:

1. Organized Your Digital Photos- Nowadays, we can take hundreds of pictures by using a digital camera. Your favorite pictures can get lost in the process. Therefore, creating folders & sub-folders and labeling each folder can reduced frustration in the long run.

2. Crop Digital Photos- You want your photo to look close to professional as possible. The crop tool would remove the outer parts of the photo or even an unwanted person in the photo and much more!

3. Capture Memories by Creating A Scrapbook or Collage- I gathered all of my son's photos from newborn to the age of 18. And made a collage for his "Open House" this past summer. I received so many compliments on that project.

4. Stay Informed- Don't be afraid to try or learn something new about photography. Photography has grown in leaps and bounds and continue to grow. Therefore, keeping yourself inform about the various editing software, tutorials, techniques, etc.. is crucial.

5. Online Digital Photo Printing Services- The online digital photo printing services enables you to select which photos you want to print, inform you of the quality of each photos, and you can even create gift & novelty products with the image right on them.

There is unlimited information online about editing & creating beautiful digital photos. Hopefully the tips that I provided would be beneficial to you.

Norah Jones...Featuring Album

Book Review: ADOPTED ED by Darren Maddern

My husband adopted my biological son, Nate, when he was only 8 months old. My husband and I never put a difference between Nate or his siblings. As Nate grew older, he began to ask questions about his biological father. We both was opened and honest with him. I had the opportunity to review the ADOPTED ED book with my grand-daughter (Nate's daughter). This book was interest as well as informative. I would recommend this book to anyone that's been adopted or know someone in your family that's been adopted.

ADOPTED ED
is a simple, easy-to-read and understand children’s book with important underlying messages of personal empowerment and social pressures and acceptance.

It focuses on the life of Eddie, an adopted little boy, who is just like every other boy and girl. At school, when he is teased by bullies about being adopted, his mom offers words of wisdom, which ultimately gives him self-confidence to deal with the situation.

This book teaches us that being different is okay and in fact, should be celebrated (“I’m adopted, I’m special,” he proclaimed aloud. Then he said it again and grew very proud.”). This message could not be more applicable for children growing up in today’s environment where bullying – simply because of one’s hair color, race or size - has become a national epidemic. Adults, just like Eddie’s mom, also need to embrace their responsibility of educating children to help them understand the concepts of tolerance, patience and kindness. Instilling these principles begin at home, which will nurture a child’s self-confidence over time.

Thus, this book is for everybody - not just those who are adopted - as everybody is different in his or her own way.

ADOPTED ED is a substantial children’s book in that it cleverly conveys real messages in the reality of today’s world that is filled with social pressures. Yet, it is communicated in a straightforward, entertaining fashion that even a child can grasp. While the title suggests that ADOPTED ED is simply a story about an adopted boy named Ed, what it’s really about on a broader scale is one of education. Hence, ADOPTED ED-ucation.

ADOPTED ED concludes with a section of famous people who were adopted.

About the Author, Darren Maddern:

Born in England, Darren was adopted when he was only 10 days old by Don and Dolly Maddern, an American military couple. To this day, Darren still enjoys a close relationship with his British family. He also had an extremely close relationship with his adoptive parents, who always encouraged his journey through life.

Throughout his life Maddern has been asked about being adopted. Through candidly sharing his story, he’s helped many adoptees, parents of adopted children and parents considering adoption.

ADOPTED ED is dedicated to both his adopted and biological parents with a special dedication to his mom, Dolly Maddern who passed away in 2000 and his pops, Don Maddern who joined her in 2009. It's also dedicated to every adopted man, woman and child to remind them that they too are indeed – SPECIAL.
